As a composer Philip is known for his feature and short film scores. His versatile output shows in his scores, which range from large orchestral works to electronica and sound design. The films he has scored have won several awards and been shown across the world in festivals, cinemas and on TV. The feature ‘Best Little Whorehouse in Rochdale’ won 3 international awards.

After his degree Philip went on to gain a Masters in music and studied Music for Film and TV at Berklee. He composed for the short film ‘Torn’ which was shown on Channel 4. The short file ‘A Local Desperado’ won the ‘People’s Choice Award’ at the Horizon Film Festival and has been selected for the American On-line Film Awards. He is as at home writing for documentaries as he is for features. The documentary ‘The Power and the Place’ by award winning documentary film maker John Burgan was premièred at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington.
Philip has in the past been commissioned to write for several art installations, contemporary dance, adverts and a musical for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. As well as scoring Philip has been in several bands writing, arranging and performing. Secret of Life had national international radio play with one of their singles been voted ‘single of the week’ by the NME.
